Technora aramid ropes have been engineered for applications where light weight, high strength and good abrasion resistance are important.
These ropes are manufactured in a 12 strand braided construction with an overall jacket of polyester.
Synthetic ropes versus steel wire rope:
Already in 1992 the first reports were published regarding the utilization of HMPE fibre in ropes for running over pulleys
(Institut für Förderungs Technik/ Uni Stuttgart).
Initial conclusions, after many bend-over-sheave tests:
• HMPE ropes can reach the same of even higher bending cycles as steel wire rope
• Test speed was adjusted so that temp. did not exceed 40 Degrees C
• Diameter decrease and lengthening of cable can be used discard criteria
